So December is upon us. The advent calendars are out, the elves are on their shelves, Greggs is bid only and you can quietly eat your body weight in Treeslets without any judgement. What a time to be alive. The Snapshot might be a bit – ahem – patchy this month as Courteney and I put our bodies on the line for the firm – starting with an Edinburgh jolly up client trip tomorrow and Friday. That’s fine though. It means we’ll miss some of the to-ing and fro-ing of what are some pretty choppy markets right now and hopefully be able to identify some of the bigger picture bits that you only get with a bit of perspective.

It’s like déjà vu all over again at the moment isn’t it. And not in a good way. The Andrew Marr show back to hosting more scientists than politicians. The dreaded NI COVID function being reluctantly typed into Bloomberg at regular intervals as every headline gets scrutinised. Everyone becoming an expert in something that until about 4 days ago they knew nothing about.

Now I know we told you there wouldn’t be a snapshot today and as much as we don’t like going against our word, we thought the market having it’s biggest move of the year (SXXP-3.7%) warranted a change of heart. The ‘Nu’ Variant or ‘Variant of Concern’ gaining all the attention and met with a classic case of sell first and ask questions later ensued. A perfect storm really with the Thanksgiving holiday causing a number of absentee’s from the market.
